One of my favorite childhood snacks consisted of anything dipped in ranch dressing. The problem with that nowadays is the premade dressings contain so many harmful additives in addition to poorly sourced ingredients. Specifically poorly source dairy ingredients are linked to chronic inflammation of all types. For some of us inflammation in the body is displayed through excess body fat, fatigue, mental fogginess and the inability to focus. For others it’s displayed in different types of sickness or even joint pain.
The more we remove inflammatory foods from your diet the better we will feel and the better we will look. So here’s a fun recipe to help you kick your ranch habit and replace it with something that’s equally as satiating but also that helps slim your waist line and keep you feeling your best.
- One and a half cups raw cashews
- One clove fresh garlic
- 1 teaspoon white onion
- One cap full apple cider vinegar
- Dash of black pepper
- Dash of garlic
- Dash of dried basil
- Juice of 1 and 1/2 lemons
- 1 teaspoon fresh chives
- 1 teaspoon fresh dill
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup water adding more as needed to reach desired consistency
Method: Blend water, cashews, sea salt, apple cider, lemon juice, garlic and onions until smooth. Add garlic powder, black pepper, fresh chives, dill and basil. Pulse until incorporated but not fully blended. Serve over your fav salad!
